The big news on the stock market that has dominated the headlines for several months now has been the growing concern about a credit crunch due to the failure of the sub prime market. Now it seems that this news has gotten worse. In a recent interview with CNBC, the CEO of Countrywide, Angelo Mozilo, stated that the liquidity problems are worse than expected and that he thinks that the current credit crunch will actually lead to a recession. Obviously, this is bad news for all investors, but especially for those in the real estate sector. With the stock market down, and not enough credit to go around, homebuyers will have a harder time finding a situation that is fit for them. Hopefully the effects will be minimal, but we will have to wait & see.
