Pharmaceutical companies have recently come under increased pressure to remove many of the cold and cough medicines that are designed for children. This is because there have been a steady number of deaths related to these drugs. Apparently, it has nothing to do with the product itself, but rather accidental overdosing. Never the less, the companies voluntarily removed these products from the shelf. It is uncertain if these products will again be available, but for now an entire portion of the pharmaceutical sector is now unavailable. It is hard to tell what this will mean to stock prices and any future dividends, and we will have to wait and see how sweeping these changes will be.
