E-Commerce Secrets: E-Mail Newsletter Shortcuts

E-Commerce Secrets best practices followed by many American businesses from large companies to one-person operations sometimes include email newsletters.

These email newsletters often have descriptions of popular and new products, as well as direct links to order pages.

With these direct links, your customers and hopefully customers-to-be can click from within the body of the email newsletter and have their browsers land on either your website’s main ecommerce page, or even a page dedicated to a description of the product and order form link for the product itself.

Including these links is not difficult. As a matter of fact it is easy. You don’t need to know any “coding” at all.

I would suggest composing your email newsletter in Microsoft Word, or one of any simple-to-use HTML authoring programs. These programs (my favorite is Microsoft FrontPage) do the linking for you.

In the following example,  you are using Microsoft Word.

First, open a new Web page document. Do this by File-New-Create Web Page (which should appear in a menu on the right side of Word).

As you are writing your email newsletter, and come across a place where you might want to build a link to a particular e-commerce page on your site, go to the top feature bar in Word and click Insert. Then, click Hyperlink.

An Insert Hyperlink box will open. Now, I recommend you go to your Web browser and pull up the page- say a product-order- page on your site you want to link to.

After that page loads, go back into Word and then click Browsed Pages. Make sure that the page you want to link to is highlighted in Blue.

Click OK, and then check your document to make sure the link is there.
