Online Marketing
Are you looking to increase the traffic to your e commerce site? Aren’t we all looking to do that???
One way I’ve found to do this is to create a name within an online community. Of course, it’s not all selfish and greedy. You have to be willing to give back and to be willing to NOT sell your stuff.
I know, it seems counterintuitive, but much online networking resembles offline networking. The very helpful and polite people will get asked what they do and will make sales without every actively ’selling’ their product.
The most pushy thing I’ll do is add a link to my home page in my signature. Less information is more likely to get them to click it than if I tell them all about my business in my signature. Let people wonder who you are and what you do enough that they want to find out on their own. Beating them over the head with what you do is the worst thing you can do online.
Some sites I like:
- 43things.com
- Del.icio.us
- Digg.com
- Spurl.com
- Furl.com
- Flickr.com
However, you’ll want to find communities that are more in-line with your business area. If you sell widgets, look on Google for a ‘widget lovers community’. Remember, don’t advertise your business, just be such a great guy/gal online in the community that people ask what you do or visit your site through your signature.
