Real Estate Agent Secret

If you are in the habit of holding an open house, at the advice of your real estate agent, maybe you should rethink that traditional routine. Only 2-4% of home sales occur as a result of open houses.

However, if you are an agent and are looking for new clients, you can’t pick a better way to find them than an open house.

Los Angeles real estate agent Liz Johnson loves open houses, but not because they move her properties. The real reason Johnson holds them is because they bring her more business.

Prospective home buyers walk through and ask what other listings she has. "They’ve always been better for agents than sellers," she says.

Consider open houses as a security risk, and plan accordingly.  Be sure there is someone from the family in many areas of the home and, if possible, hire an off-duty police officer to securely ‘police’ the property during the event.

And, be sure an open house fits in with your needs.  Don’t just have an open house because everyone else does. It may not makes sense to do so in this case.
