Money Saving Techniques

A great way to reduce and eliminate debt is to establish and three fold
philosophy on the management of your money.
Spending
- Necessities - focus on the things you must have in order to live. Food,
shelter, travel, clothing and the like. These are areas that must be allocated
first. - Niceties - items that you really want to acquire but are not necessary.
Don’t eliminate this area of spending completely, but keep it in
control.
Giving
- Charity - giving makes you less materialistic. Although you may want the
third plasma television, the local orphanage could use a new travel van. Find
some non-profit organizations that you could offer some funding. - Church - if you are a religious or spiritual person, you will find that
giving to your local congregation can provide a sense of ownership in something
bigger than yourself.
Saving
- Retirement - simple… this is income for the future after your employment
is gone. Failure to plan in this area of life can cause severe problems when
the time comes to retire. - Rainy Day - put some money aside for repairs or emergencies. This will give
you peace of mind as you travel through the whirlwind of life. - Recreation - plan to take some time away each year. Even if it’s just a few
day trips. Don’t think you can’t ‘afford’ time away. You really can’t afford
not to get away.
Giving, saving, and spending wisely will go far in
your journey.
