Landscaping On A Budget

Nothing is more time consuming that having to landscape and maintain the yard of a home. As a real estate investor, you need to make sure your time is spent effectively. Spending too much money or time in the yards can eat into your profits.
Getting your lawn looking good doesn’t require tons of cash nor does it have to be as tedious as you might think. There are tons of great tips for landscaping cheaply, here are a few we’ve chosen from some of the top landscape consultants in the industry.
- A lawn should NOT be monocultured. This means that it is not healthy for a yard to just have a species of grass without any wild or natural vegetation. Although most people don’t want any weeds or grass mixture, when groomed the lawn will have a richer color. Of course you want to promote grass health and growth, but quit wasting your money treating ‘every’ weed in the garden. Some weeds actually help with nitrogen and fertilization.
- Hardscape items are a nice touch that are inexpensive. Waterfalls and ponds can be added for next to nothing using plastic liners and stones.
- Patios and walkways can be laid using play sand instead of concrete and will save you a good penny doing it yourself.
- Plants. Don’t buy cheap plants. Just like aquarium fish, you can’t buy cheap plants at a local super store. You most likely will get one that is sick or diseased and though you will save some front end money, you’ll be replacing or at best tending more than you should.
There are many ways to improve the landscaping of your properties without spending tons of money. More money saving tips can be found at About.com’s landscaping tips.
