Time Is Money

Nothing is more intensive in time and labor than having to repair, clean, or
maintain a home. As a real estate investor you want to save money and build
your wealth through your investments, but there are some things that will cost
you more in the long run.
Whether you are obtaining a additional property
or getting ready to lease or rent an existing one, you will have repairs and
cleaning on your list of to-dos.
There are some areas that can end up
eating away your precious time that someone else could assist you in
completing. Here are a few areas that you should consider hiring out instead of
doing yourself:
- Cleaning. Don’t spend your time cleaning and scrubbing walls, floors, and
toilets. Get the assistance of a professional service or maid service. For the
10 hours it takes you to get the inside of a house sanitized, you could have met
with 5 to 10 people or made 20 phone calls digging up new clients or closing
deals. - Repairs. As with the cleaning, find someone who you can ‘always’ contract
to do these repairs for you will save you time and money. Having a few folks
‘on-call’ will also eliminate the stress of waiting for things to get done. - Landscaping. Don’t spend tons of time or money on this. Allow the yard to
look appealing and be clean and organized but don’t get caught up in "the more I
spend, the more I’ll make" for landscaping. It just doesn’t get a return like
you would think. The curb appeal is more valuable than the value of the
trees.
Time is valuable and you can never get it back. Money, on the
other hand, can be returned. Consider this when spending countless hours trying
to save a little more cash.
