eCommerce Site Development

ecommerce development

We’ve discussed the basics of ecommerce site design and shopping carts and the importance of these elements.  More and more web site owners are going to a flash intro or flash based website.

Although these sites are ‘flashy’ and they look superb, a flash intro on a website can eliminate a customer quickly.

When going to a site, most people who are shopping do NOT want wait for a loading screen nor do they want to dig through animations or menus to find what they are looking for.

At best, use a flash intro with a ’skip’ link at the bottom and keep your website and checkout features clear of flash.

Consumers without high-speed internet can have difficulty loading flash websites and will not wait but click the back button and try another location.

Not only is flash not necessary, it has no bearing on visibility NOR does it make your product or services a step above the competition.  Flash development is also very expensive to build and it can be costly to maintain if something goes wrong.

Bells and whistles on a site might be impressive to the programmers of the world, but to the average consumer, they are a pain and will cost you customers, sales, and money.
