Debt Consolidation Scams

Debt consolidation is a valid practice and can put you on the path to
eliminating your debt in a timely manner.
Choosing the correct
consolidation company is critical. There are more companies just out to steal
your money than really helping you with your debt.
Avoid ads in
magazines, newspapers, and email solicitations. The companies could fraud you
in the following manner:
You answer the ad and contact the company
promising to connect you with debt consolidation and sometimes elimination
services. You pay a $300 to $500 fee and your debt consolidation service
contacts you and sets up your account.
You provide them with ALL of your
debts, account information while they calculate an interest and a monthly
consolidated payment.
After that consultation, they deduct your FIRST
payment from your bank account and then you are free to live your life free from
worry.
What you don’t know is that your money is gone and the company
contact number is bogus. You have just been scammed out of $1000 or
more.
Pay careful attention to contact a non-profit agency like Consumer
Credit Counseling Services and steer away from these potentially fraudulent
programs.
