When sales are great shipping is greater… shipping can be the single biggest headache in any business.  Not having a good shipping policy and standard of operation will cause you a great deal of ecommerce stress.

Here are a few shipping tips and suggestions to get you going down the right path:

1. Drop Ship.  Have your product shipped straight from the manufacturer or warehouse.  This eliminates you having to keep inventory and removes the stress of having to stay on top of shipments and dealing with losses and returns.  The only drawback is that you are at the mercy of someone else.
2. Use Online Shipping.  USPS, UPS, and FeDex all have online shipping available.  You are able to have an account, print your labels and the tracking information is automatically sent to the customer.  In some cases you can even have a daily pickup for all of your packages saving you endless frustration.
3. Use software to track your orders and shipping.  Paypal even has a great order tracking system with their premium accounts.

Other than going to an all digital product, shipping is going to be a part of your online business life.  So get control and make sure you ship IMMEDIATELY, don’t wait - it’ll just cost you later.
