Debt Management Plan

Wealth Building

Developing a debt management plan is the best way to surrender debt and build wealth.  Debt can overcome you if you don’t keep it under control.  What you don’t realize is that creditors want you to stay on top of your payments, but they desire to get the minimum payment so the interest and fees will accumulate over time.

Having a focused strategy for debt management can be done personally or through an agency.  There are two styles of debt management plans.  One is where you get a wealth coach or financial advisor to look over your current financial situation and make recommendations on a management and payment plan for you to eliminate debt.  You could call this prosper learning.  Once you have a plan developed you must stick to it without fail.  Maintain your spending decisions, stick to a tight budget and stay disciplined to not going into any further debt.

One way to maintain your decision on debt is to decide what you are going to do with credit cards in general.  The best advice is to not have but one or two for emergencies or general needs like auto rental or hotel reservations.  Of course there are other options with credit card benefits.

Closing the accounts once you pay them off is a great idea and if you aren’t willing to close them, freeze the cards in a bag of water.  That way you aren’t able to get them without a few hours of defosting.

The second type of debt management plan is on where a service or debt management company will negotiate your debt and interest rate on all your credit accounts and then become your liason to them for payments.  This is a good option, but it does hurt your credit rating while you are on the plan.  Consumer Credit Counseling Service is one such entity that provides a plan of this type.

No matter what your choice of debt management, be sure to stick to your personal goals and after time you will begin to see debt disappear and wealth appear.
