eCommerce Checkouts Are Vital

No matter how good your website may be, a poorly developed shopping cart or checkout system will destroy all your hard work quickly.
During the completion of a sale if your customer feels burdened, overwhelmed or even scared, he or she will just close the browser and look elsewhere.
Here are a few tips that can help you streamline your checkout process and eliminate the ecommerce bouncer!
- Be very clear in what you are asking for during the checkout process. Any required information or details need to be clearly marked. It is not a bad idea to put any navigation in easily visible locations.
- Adding a meter to show the progress of the checkout is a great idea. You may only have four or five steps, but at step three the customer feels they are going on a 20 minutes trip, they might decide not to take it.
- Adding some logos and information about your security or any online verifications you have is a comfort to customers.
- When finalizing the checkout, be sure to add the total costs, including shipping at this point. Don’t use the "shipping to be determined" line. It’s also almost a requirement to list exactly what the customer is purchasing at the time of checkout as a review.
Although there are many other things that you can do, these are the basics that should be part of every successful ecommerce checkout or shopping cart.
