Market Yourself and Your Business
Networking is a super way to get into the business sector of a community or industry and a very helpful tool to gain clients. Getting the Value of your company to other business owners is a key to being seen and heard.
There are several avenues for networking your business for marketing awareness. Many industries have specific small networks or professional groups/organizations. Find these in your area and make a point to join.
The local chamber of commerce can be a useful marketing tool if you find the right relationships, it’s not just going but being seen and heard that makes the difference.
Also, most areas have "Small Business Chambers" that are comprised of smaller companies in all sectors. These are very helpful for marketing yourself and your services as they are smaller and more community based than professionally focused. In years past, we have gained a large portion of our business from SBC referrals.
Most importantly, carry your business cards with you at all times being sure to have your company’s mission statement on the tip of your tongue. You never know who you will meet in the Wal-Mart shopping line or your local restaurant.
Some of my best clients and employees have come from situations in lines or public places.
Remember that your services and products won’t market themselves, but you can! Sell yourself but don’t sell yourself short.
