Viral Marketing Strategies

Marketing Success
As you focus on discovering the value of your product and service your thinking should them move to getting the word out about that value.

Most companies traditionally hire a marketing director and/or marketing firm and pay them a monthly retainer to place ads and send out press releases. These strategies work some but can’t really be relied upon in today’s marketplace as the final focus of a good marketing campaign.

There are several schools of thought that I want to take you through: One, understand that a marketing campaign should not be operated as a seasonal or temporary fix for visibility. Two, change your verbiage as well as your thinking to a marketing or awareness strategy.

Creating an awareness and marketing strategy will continually convey the value of you product or service to your customers and the marketplace. It won’t be a gimmick (although some can be effective) that dies out quickly, but rather a focused and purposeful goal that infiltrates all of your methods and ideals on marketing your company.

One of the most effective, long-term strategies in marketing is to create ‘viral marketing.’ When you look at the history of successful companies and products you will find an underlying scope that seems like a virus and just doesn’t stop spreading. That is the essence of a viral marketing strategy.

Although there are several ways for this to take place, today we’ll look at the social networking side of marketing. Malcolm Gladwell wrote a book called "The Tipping Point" and discusses how we change the world around us like an epidemic because of our centers of influence. Viral marketing strategies through social networking outlets can do just that.

There are many online social networking outlets that exist. Mooble.com is a social networking website that links people together for common interests and social relationships. LinkedIn is a professional networking site dedicated to the networking of professionals together in many areas of the corporate world. Blogs, forums and industry specific message boards are also great mediums for social marketing.

Using services like these can create a ‘buzz’ about your company or service if done effectively. Later, we’ll discuss how to effectively use these marketing outlets. When the ‘buzz’ catches on and the viral aspect kicks in, there is nothing that can stop it.
