Lisa Picarille, the Editor of Revenue Magazine reported the following growth statistics of blogs, I found them fasinating.
- As of June 2005 there were 31.6 million hosted blogs. Of which 10 million were created in the first quarter of 2005.
- It’s projected that by the end of 2005, there will be $54.4 million.
- Studies reveal that 6% of the entire U.S. adult population has created a blog.
- There are and estimated 900,000 blog posts everyday. That’s 10.4 per second gang!
- The blogosphere continues to double about every 5 1/2 months.
- 16% of U.S. adults, or 32 million, are blog readers.
- 50 million Americans or 30% of of all American Internet users, visited a blog in the first quarter of 2005.
- Traffic to blogs increased by 45% from the first quarter of 2005.
- The average blog reader viewed 77% more pages (16,000) than the average Internet user who doesn’t read blogs (9,000).
- Blog readers average 23 hours online per week, compared to the average Web users 13 hours.
- Blog readers are 11 percent more likely than the average Internet user to have incomes of $75,000.
- Blog readers tend to make more online purchases.
- 51% of blog readers shopped online in contrast to the average Internet users 40%.
These kinds of high powered stats are catching the attention of business from around the globe who are racing to figure out how to leverage the phenomenon and fill their cauffers wtih cash.
